An extensive history and background of the company.

I AM A SELF-TAUGHT COMPUTER TECHNICIAN WITH OVER 20 YEARS OF HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE!

MORE ABOUT ME!

I started tinkering with computers in junior high. The school I attended had received a donation of computers that ran Windows 95 and MS-DOS. So, my curiosity was sparked and I volunteered to install Windows 98 SE, word processors, and games from 3.5" floppy disks.

In high school, I was also given old computers from friends that were either no longer usable or had stopped working. So, I combined them together and made a working unit. I then installed an OS (XP I believe) and spent hours on Instant Messenger programs (brushing up on my typing skills).

During college, I had my first exposure to broadband internet and my curiosity about computers skyrocketed.

This intense curiosity carried me straight through college and into my first job at Radio Shack. While working there, I was exposed to several other electronic devices and accessories! During this time, I also picked up a LOT of knowledge from a local computer repair store that I visited often.

During the next year, I had purchased my very first new desktop PC and MP3 player. (Both of which are considered obsolete today)

For the next decade, I worked nights and dabbled in different hobbies during the day. My computer enthusiasm turned into a part-time business and I spent the majority of my 20's expanding my computer collection. At one point, I owned 4 desktop PCs and one laptop. I had also purchased 3 external hard drives for additional storage.

In 2013, I married the love of my life. Shortly thereafter, I decided to expand my knowledge base to include networking and servers. I took all of my external hard drives, removed the hard drives from them, and installed them into one large PC cabinet and installed Windows Home Server 2011.  Alas, while I was very happy with its options, its memory limitations were inadequate for hosting multi-player gaming. So, I installed Windows 7 instead.

In 2015, I gave my server an overhaul with a six-core AMD processor, 16 GB of RAM as well as my first SSD hard drive. That machine is still in operation today.

I'm also the go-to guy for my family's computer service needs.

So, to start the new year, I am designing this website and have my own business cards to kick off my computer business under the name Day Job Computer Services.

WHY CHOOSE DAY JOB FOR YOUR COMPUTER NEEDS?

For starters, the first consultation is FREE!  When I meet new customers, I want them to feel comfortable and confident that I will meet their needs in a timely and thrifty manner. The last thing a new customer should worry about is, "Am I being billed for this time?"

Second, I do not own or lease a storefront. Therefore, there is no overhead to worry about. The main item that I charge for is time--usually a fixed amount of time that I set for myself to meet. There are, however, very rare occasions when I charge an hourly rate. However, my rates are roughly half of the rates you'd pay at a computer store.

Third, I am not limited to geography. In other words, I have teamed up with a top-notch remote assistance service (TeamViewer) that allows me to connect to PCs anywhere, providing they have the software installed. I discuss this option in my first consult and an very excited about the potential it presents for my current and future clients.

GIVE DAY JOB A TRY!

I will never tire of saying this -- first consult is ALWAYS FREE! If I cannot convince you that you are in good hands, you are free to look elsewhere with no offense implied. However, please remember that I don't do what I do because I want to make money--I do it because I love it! If you find someone else willing to fix your problem for less, let me know and I'll match their rate or beat it. Just be careful as there is a saying, "You get what you pay for!"
